Events: Blues Festival Info Update

Blues FestJoeyG writes
"Greetings blues fans. This years Murphysboro BluesFest will not take place, as funds from the city merchants and Murphysboro government was not available.

The Murphysboro Mayor has advised me that funds may be available for the festival in 2008. We sure hope this will become reality, as the blues fest is a great event for the Southern Illinois region.

This year I have been working with the Musicians Gallery and the City of Benton, Illinois on a great festival event to take place at TWIN OAKS at Benton Lake on Friday & Saturday September 28th & 29th.

For full details of The 1st Annual Benton Rock n Blues Blowout can be obtained at: http://www.myspace.com/bentonrocknbluesblowout.

Hope to see you all there..."

Events: From: Producer, Joe Glasser

Blues Festjoeyg writes
"Hello everyone.

Just a update to thank everyone who has help to keep the blues festival alive up to this date. Last years participation was not good.   I will not be doing the blues fest again anymore in the future without 100% financial support from a private or business intity.

Murphysboro City Council, all of your city, county, and state politicians, and the Murphysboro business comunity show "NO" interest in supporting this great festival event . I can not continue to take the large financial hit that I have taken from the last (4) blues festivals.

I am not accepting anymore promo. pack from blues groups.  If anyone knows a private or business funder who would want to finanace the future of the festival, they can contact me at agentglasser@hotmail.com.
Serious inquiries ONLY.

If you want to attempt to take over the production of this festival, contact Mr. Lance Russel at the Murphysboro Park District.

Again thank you to all past Riverside blues festival supporters.
Joseph Glasser."

Events: Press Release: Blues Fest Dedicated to all Americans in the Military!!

Blues FestFrom: Joseph Glasser, Executive Producer
To: ALL American Military Veterans and Current Military Men and Women

As Executive Producer of the Biggest Little Blues Fest in the Midwest, I am honored to honor the Men and Women of Americas Armed Forces who have given so much of their lives to preserve the freedoms that so many Americans take for granted.

Therefore, I am happy to announce that this years Blues Music Festival will be dedicated to all those great Americans who have given so much of their lives to the cause of the preservation of all our freedoms.

In dedication to these great and brave Americans, we have made the decision to invite ALL current military men and women to attend the Blues Fest FREE OF CHARGE! We would prefer that they come in uniform though not required. If not in uniform, they must present a current military I.D. for free admission at the gate.

To all our great American Veterans, we invite you to attend the festival at half price. This would be a gate free for $4.00 for Friday and $6.00 for all day Saturday. All veterans must present a VA Card or Military ID to receive the half-priced admission.

Events: Storms hit Murphysboro

Blues FestMurphysboro was slammed with storms over the past couple of days.   The Weather Service reported sightings of several funnel clouds, including near the areas of Carrier Mills, Murphysboro and Marion, resulting in the evacuation of Illinois Centre Mall.

The Murphysboro Park and the Shell Soundstage were not affected by the storms and so the Blues Festival is still a thumbs up!    In fact, the predicted weather for the Blues Festival weekend is sunshine all weekend!
