Events: Calling all Blues Lovers!

As you may have heard, the Murphysboro Blues Festival may not happen this year due to the lack of interest, contributions or sponsorships. Throwing an event such as the BluesFest requires anywhere up to $20,000 to pay for the blues artists, sound equipment rental, permits, and licenses. The costs were always paid for, up front, by Joe Glasser in hopes to break even on ticket sales. Unfortunately, the community has lost interest in the event by seeing a steady decrease in attendance.

Andy Livingston says: "The reason people have lost interest in the festival is the paethetic line-up. What genius came up with the bright idea of going to two days last year, thereby spreading your limited resources even thinner? The only band worth listening to last year was Lew Jetton. Even the headliner was terrible. He came in with the reputation of a great guitar player but his guitar was mixed so poorly you could barely hear it and his vocals, which were only so-so, overpowered everything else. Look north to Sparta if you want to see a well done festival."

A bad mix is a bad mix and the sound engineer is to blame for that. NOT THE TALENT. The so-called pathetic line-up is due to lack of support in the first place. If people actually donated money or quit being selfish by coming to support the event regardless of the talent, the park district would have enough money to hire better talent. It works both ways.

Put yourself in the shoes of those who have no money in the first place. What could you do better with NO MONEY?

Also, what do you mean "what genius came up with the bright idea of going to two days last year"? Hasn't it always been two days?
