Events: 2004 Blues Festival Recap

I wasn't able to attend the 2004 Ozark Blues Fest held at the Salt Petre Cave. From word of mouth, the event did not turn out as well as anticipated. The 2004 Blues Fest was under the direction of Bob Goodall, owner of the Salt Petre Cave. The low turnout could have been due to many reasons such as lack of marketing, advertising, interest, or time conflicts with another event. Even though I do not have direct involvment with planning, I would to ensure everyone that next year's event will be back to the regular event location and most importantly, under the regular direction and planning by Joe Glasser.

I could have told you it was a bad idea to take it to the Saltpetre Cave. Although it is a great location, the owner is so full of B.S. it is coming out of his ears. Doesn't anyone remember the first Blues Festival there after he took it over about 6 years ago? So many of the supposedly scheduled acts didn't show up that Shakey Jake had to play two full sets and they let some nobody band from Memphis just show up and start playing a disco set! Right before that fiasco there was an article in the Cape paper about him taking it over where he did so much ridiculous name dropping of bands he supposedly had booked (Little Feat and Ted Nugent to name a couple) that I contacted both of these bands managers via e-mail to find out if he was telling the truth. Neither one had ever heard of him and both bands were already booked elsewhere for the dates he had named. In other words, he was flat out lying! I'm glad it's going back to Riverside Park, the band shell there is perfect for it!
